Sizing Guide

Dancewear sizing can vary between brands and even within different clothing ranges for a particular brand.  The following information is our guideline for both clothing and footwear, but if you are in any doubt, please don't hesitate to contact us using one of the methods outlined at http://www.dancewearuniverse.co.uk/contact-us/info_2.html and we will be glad to provide advice.
 
 
LEOTARDS
 
The sizing of leotards can vary between brands and manufactures.
 
We have used our experience of fitting children for almost thirty years to size each individual garment according to the age of clothes you would normally buy for the child. For example if you usually buy age 8 to 9 clothes then any of our age 8 to 9 leotards will fit no matter who the manufacturer is.
 
This makes it easier to buy the correct size and avoids the complications of the strange sizing used by dancewear manufacturers.  However for Tappers and Pointers garments the following is a good guide.

If you do not know your size, the following is a guide for Tappers & Pointers garments.


Size 00 - Average size 2-3 year old

Size 0 - Average size 4-5 year old

Size 1 - Average size 6-7 year old

Size 2 - Average size 8-9 year old

Size 3a – Average size 10-11 years old

Size 3 - Adult small (approx size - ladies 8-10)

Size 4 - Adult medium (approx size - ladies 10-12)

Size 5 - Adult large (approx size - ladies 14-16)

Size 6 - Adult Extra Large (approx size - ladies 16)

Shoes size adjustments are recommended against your normal UK shoe size. Equivalent adjustments should be made for international sizes.

  • Tappers and Pointers Leather - Add 2 sizes to allow room for growth or 1 size for a snug fit
  • Tappers and Pointers Satin - Add 1 size
  • Bloch Prolite Leather - Take 1 size less
  • Bloch Prolites Canvas - Take 1 size less
  • Katz Leather  - Add 1 1/2 sizes
  • Katz Satin - Add 1 size
  • Paris - Add half sizes
POINTE SHOES
  • All -  Take 1 size less
CHARACTER SHOES
  • Capezio Junior footlight  - Add 2 sizes
  • Capezio Theatrical footlight  - Add 2 sizes
  • All others are normal sizes
DANCE SNEAKERS
  • Bloch Slipstream - Add 2 sizes
  • Capezio Freedom - Add 2 sizes
  • Capezio Web - Add 1 size up to 21/2. Add 2 sizes from 4-9 adult
  • Katz Sneaker - Normal UK Size
  • Bloch Boost DRT - Add 1 size up to 31/2 (child), Add 3 sizes 4- 10 adult
JAZZ SHOES
  • Freed Reflex, Hologram T&P, BLACK T&P, WHITE T&P, Black KATZ, White Katz are ALL normal uk size
  • Split Sole Bloch - Add 2 sizes
  • Split Sole Capezio - Add 2 sizes
COUNTRY DANCE
  • Gandolfi - Normal size for snug fit or add 1 size for growth
  • Tappers and Pointers Leather ballet - Add 2 sizes for childen, 1 size for adult snug fit
  • Bloch Paris - Add half a size
  • Bloch Ultraflex - Add 2 sizes
